Engineered Hawaiian Koa Hardwood Flooring

$20.00

Our engineered Hawaiian Koa hardwood flooring is the ultimate choice in luxury wood flooring for your home. Engineered Koa wood flooring is an excellent alternative to solid Koa hardwood flooring because it uses our limited supply of wood more efficiently and has the added benefit of being more affordable than the solid version.

The base of the flooring is a 1/2” thick Baltic birch plywood that acts as a super stable substrate for the 1/4” thick solid Hawaiian Koa hardwood top. The glue used in the plywood base and the glue used to adhere the plywood to the hardwood is waterproof for maximum durability.

Because the base of our engineered flooring is plywood our flooring isn’t subject to the natural tendencies of hardwood to expand, contract, warp and/or cup when exposed to different environmental factors.

We do recommend that a vapor barrier is used between the subfloor and the engineered Koa hardwood flooring to further prolong the life of the floor by minimizing the potential for any adverse reactions to environmental factors. It’s also possible to glue-down the flooring to the subfloor and when installed in this manner the glue can serve as a vapor barrier in place of the vapor barrier underlayment.

The top layer of our engineered flooring is solid hardwood which means the floor can be sanded and resurfaced to remove scratches that occur over time. In most cases, with proper care, engineered Koa hardwood flooring can be expected to last for 30-50 years. Even with solid hardwood Koa wood floors, you can only sand the floor down to the top of the tongue and groove joint so there is no additional benefit to solid Koa flooring in terms of refinishing capabilities.

The visible face of our engineered hardwood flooring planks are 4.5 inches wide and are provided in random lengths from 2 to 5 feet long. There is a beveled edge around all four edges of the top of the flooring plank and the tongue and groove joint continues around all four sides of the flooring. The engineered floorings overall thickness is 3/4 inch thick and is comprised of a 1/2 inch thick plywood base with a 1/4 inch thick hardwood top.

Our engineered Koa hardwood floors are available unfinished or prefinished upon request. We supply a range of flooring trims and moldings to complete your installation. The flooring trims and moldings are made from solid Hawaiian Koa hardwood and are typically supplied in 8 foot lengths whenever possible. Due to the extreme limited supply of Koa, it is sometimes not possible to supply 8 foot long moldings and instead lengths may average 6 feet.

Hawaiian Koa varies greatly from tree to tree and due to this factor it’s important for us to communicate with you prior to milling so we can inform you of the color and grain textures that are currently available for production. We’re excited for the possibility of working with you and look forward to discussing your flooring project!

The price per square foot is $16 and all trim and molding prices are by the linear foot. Please feel free to contact us contact us to discuss your hardwood flooring needs!
